Slow your pumps and maximise your savings
Variable-speed pumps help maximize energy efficiency and result in huge cost savings. Operating a variable-speed pump at 50% of its maximum speed uses 85-90% less energy and reduces energy bills greatly. It is an investment that will often pay for itself in less than one year.
Water passing through a filter at a lower speed is filtered more effectively than water passing through at a higher speed. The lower speed allows the filter to catch more debris, resulting in cleaner pool water.
Variable-speed pumps operating at lower speeds generate less head pressure. This decreases stress on not only the pump but the rest of the system as well, resulting in less maintenance and longer equipment lifetime.

Mitch’s Top Tips – Closing your pool this September?
Closing an outdoor pool down for winter is a staple of the pool industry. It is believed to save costs, and no one wants to shell out for anything they are not using. We at Specialist Pools Services have had great success with winter care visits. Although this does add a small cost to the running of the pool over winter, when you are ready to open your pool, it allows us to get you up and running quickly and efficiently. It entails closing the pool as usual, but with very little maintenance, we prevent the Algae from sticking to the walls and taking over the pool.
We attend many pools that are left with winter covers from September through to May, and when it’s time to open the pool, it is green and requires 2-4 separate visits to open. We can ensure no algae growth through the winter, and nothing grows on the walls by having winter care visits. When Spring comes around, we have found that we can get the pool crystal clear and ready to swim after just one visit. We can drop the frequency down to every six weeks for a hand-dosed pool that we would typically attend weekly during the season.
Don’t hesitate to contact Specialist Pools Services at 01737452328 to discuss your winter maintenance.
